Hello and welcome to my blog, where every night I'll post a devotional focusing on a specific verse each night. I've been doing this for over a month now, and I pour my heart into each of them. I pray that God uses this to touch people's hearts.
Romans 8:26
"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes or us through wordless groans."
Prayer is difficult. There are a lot of times when I have no idea what to even say to God. I'm so in awe of Him that sometimes I am struck with no words to say when I talk to Him. Other times, I'm so upset I cannot speak. And other times, just so overwhelmed by things going on in my life that I don't know where to start.
But God is amazing. He knows exactly what we're going to say before it is said, and He knows our hearts.
Even if we can't express verbally what our wants, needs or praises are, the Spirit intercedes. The Spirit intervenes and speaks to God for us, on our behalf. Just like how Moses spoke to God on behalf of the Israelite people, the Spirit is our mediator, our bridge. He helps us express our thoughts, through "wordless groans."
My New Years Resolution and challenge for all of you is to start trusting more in the power of prayer, and to trust more that God knows our needs, wants and thanks.
